Preparation Correspondence Course for 3rd Class Chillers (with Cooling Towers) / Refrigeration Engineer's License Exam -

The 3rd Class Chiller Operating Engineer's Correspondence Course prepares student to pass the National Association of Stationary Operating Engineer's 3rd Class Chiller Engineer's (Large Chiillers - Refrigeration) National License Exam.

A Third-Class Chiller/Refrigeration Operating Engineer License is intended for a non-supervisory role in the Refrigeration Plant or a plant utilizing a Chiller/Chilled Water System as a Operator/Shift Engineer.

Once the student successfully completes this preparation course, the School will mail the license application to the student where the student will return the completed and signed license application for processing by the School. The School will arrange for the applicant to have a proctor supervise the license exam in their area.

The fees for the Third-Class Chiller/Refrigeration Operating Engineer License are listed in the License Application, and engineers can apply for a reciprocal license as well, which is based on holding a license from recognized State, Municipal, Federal and Third-Party licensing entities.

The qualifications to sit for examination are: the student must have documented 6-months of experience in Chilled Water/Refrigeration Plant Operations.

The Preparation Correspondence Course for 3rd Class Chiller Refrigeration National License Exam covers the following outline and topics:

Identification of various components of the refrigeration cycle
Purpose of various components of the refrigeration cycle
Identification of terminology in reference to refrigerants
Identification & purpose of various components of a chilled water system
Knowledge of the refrigeration cycle including the state of the refrigerant at various points in the cycle
Knowledge of cooling tower general maintenance practices & prevention of water fouling.
Identification of various electrical components to operate pumps & fans
Knowledge of pump operation & identification of components
Identification of absorption chillers
Knowledge of federal requirements for refrigeration/chiller plant operators & technicians

This Preparation Correspondence Course prepares the student to pass the National Association of Stationary Operating Engineer's 3rd Class Chiller / Refrigeration Engineers exam.

The training is by distant learning in the format of a correspondence course by mail. The lessons and their quizzes are by open book and sent in modules by mail.

National license and license exam fee are not included.

Upon successful completion of course, the School will mail the license application to the student where the student will return the completed and signed license application for processing by the School. The School will arrange for the applicant to have a proctor supervise the license exam in their area.
